Park Mark® and Park Access® accreditations awarded to The Forum Car Park in Norwich

The Forum Trust Norwich has once again demonstrated the highest standards across its parking operations.

The Forum Trust has achieved the prestigious Park Mark® and Park Access® awards for of their car park in Norwich. This is a fantastic achievement recognising that their parking facilities have measures in place that actively deter crime and the fear of crime in car parks.

Park Mark® is the accredited logo of the Safer Parking Scheme. It is given to parking facilities that have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police and the British Parking Association. Their assessments include management and maintenance of the facility, checking that there are appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage, and cleanliness. All these are known to reduce the opportunity for crime and thus create a safer environment for the motorist and their vehicle.

The Park Access® award recognises that the parking and driver facilities in place are accessible to all drivers regardless of their mobility needs, bringing together the very best of two accreditations – the Disabled Parking Accreditation and People’s Parking Award – to become the UK's industry benchmark for accessible and inclusive parking and electric vehicle charging facilities.

Car parks with a Park Mark® can use signage featuring the distinctive Park Mark® tick so that drivers know exactly where to go for safe parking. Facilities that have received this award have seen a drop in vehicle-related crime of over 80%.

Teresa Wood Head of Estates said: "At The Forum we are proud of being awarded the Safer Parking award and Disability Parking Accreditation. As well as being safe and accessible, our city centre car park helps to support The Forum, with the income from parking used to put on our free programme of festivals and events, and maintain and protect our iconic building."

Penny Turner, Designing Out Crime Officer, said: "The Forum Trust car park has once again been accredited with the Park Mark® and Park Access® awards. This has been achieved by Teresa Wood and Danny Merrsion’s team and it has been a pleasure working with them."

Colin Sproats, BPA Area Manager said: "I am delighted that The Forum Trust has achieved the Park Mark® and Park Access® awards, demonstrating their hard work and commitment to provide a safe environment for users.
